FlareFlow & Europe’s Shorts Strike Four-Title Microdrama Pact

Deadline · 2 hours ago

Microdrama platforms FlareFlow and Shorts have struck an exclusive four-title co-production deal aimed at pushing vertical drama beyond the romance-heavy formats that have dominated the genre so far. The partnership will produce short-form series built around fantasy, action, supernatural and revenge storylines, retaining the fast-paced, hook-driven style typical of microdrama while investing in richer world-building and higher production values.

FlareFlow, based in Singapore and owned by COL Group, is an established name in global microdrama, while Shorts is a France-based vertical video service backed by parent company Luni. The four-title slate begins rolling out weekly from 21 August across both platforms, marking Shorts' first multi-project co-production partnership, distinct from its earlier exclusive 40-title production deal with LA's Fumero Films struck late last year. Executives from both companies framed the tie-up as an attempt to broaden microdrama's audience and demonstrate the format's capacity for bigger, more diverse storytelling and original IP.
