James Bond 007 First Light Sequel All But Confirmed With 4 Million Copies Sold

Polygon · 3 hours ago

IO Interactive has revealed that its action-stealth game 007 First Light has sold 4 million copies since launching in May, a strong result that makes a sequel look highly likely even though nothing has been officially confirmed. The news comes amid uncertainty over the future of Bond video games following the franchise's move to Amazon, after remarks from Amazon Game Studios boss Jeff Gatis briefly cast doubt on whether IO Interactive would develop further instalments, before he clarified that the studio would probably be Amazon's choice given the game's success.

007 First Light saw Hitman developer IO Interactive bring its sandbox-driven, stealth-focused design to the Bond universe, combining sprawling explorable levels with cinematic set pieces inspired by games such as Uncharted. As an origin story featuring Patrick Gibson as a young Bond, it charted a path distinct from the films. Beyond a potential sequel, IO Interactive is continuing to support the current game, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version in development and a year-long roadmap of updates planned, including New Game+, extra Tac Sim challenges and a mission built around Lenny Kravitz's character Bawma.
