Crystal Palace agree Disasi loan and tell Manchester City that Wharton is not for sale
Crystal Palace have agreed a loan deal with Chelsea for centre-back Axel Disasi, turning to the 28-year-old after Chelsea refused to sanction a move for their preferred target, Josh Acheampong. The signing addresses Palace's need for a replacement following the sale of Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea, and comes as the club braces for further interest in key players during the closing week of the transfer window, including a Manchester City enquiry about midfielder Adam Wharton, which Palace have rebuffed.
Disasi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, is due to complete his medical on Friday. Palace are also pursuing a midfielder, with interest expressed in Auxerre's Kévin Danois and Monaco's Lamine Camara, while manager Pierre Sage has insisted Wharton and forward Ismaïla Sarr will both stay, having already rejected a roughly £26m bid from Galatasaray for Sarr. Right-back Daniel Muñoz, valued at around £25m, could yet leave given the arrivals of Anan Khalaili, Óscar Mingueza and Zavier Gozo, with Everton, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham all linked.
