Modern Warfare 4 will bring back Mastery camos, giving players a shared grind across all three of the game's modes: multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone. The system lets Call of Duty players work towards prestigious, animated weapon skins once they have unlocked the standard camos in whichever mode they choose to play, meaning progress carries across modes rather than being tied to just one.

There are nine Mastery camos in total, split evenly with three per mode. Multiplayer offers Mercurial Drift, Polyatomic Reforged and Orion Reforged; Warzone features Parallax, Damascus Reforged and Empyros; and DMZ includes Chiral, Ripple Tide and Helio. Activision has confirmed further details on the camo grind are expected ahead of the game's launch.
