Luminate has introduced a framework to identify and measure AI-generated music, aiming to improve transparency around its growth, potential fraud and chart-related impacts. Its CONNECT platform can already flag AI-created songs and artists globally, although the resulting labels will not be visible to customers and partners until later this year.

Fully AI-created recordings will receive an “AI Generated” label, while artists may be marked “AI” or, after individual screening, “Human”. Luminate says it has identified thousands of AI-generated items and will prioritise high-streaming releases from 2023 onwards, using its own detection systems, future platform-supplied labels and potential attribution data from AI music companies; however, it is not yet ingesting streaming-platform labels and remains in discussion with AI firms.
