Nvidia is about to be a hundred-billion-dollar-a-quarter company
Nvidia expects quarterly revenue of $108 billion within the next few months, putting it on course to join a small group of companies that have exceeded $100 billion in a quarter. The forecast underlines the scale of demand for its AI-focused data-centre hardware and the company’s growing importance in the technology sector.
In its latest quarter, Nvidia reported record overall revenue of $96.2 billion, more than $10 billion higher than the previous quarter, while profit more than doubled to $59.7 billion. Data-centre revenue rose more than 100 per cent year on year to $89 billion, whereas consumer gaming and other edge-computing sales totalled $7.2 billion; the company cited slower PC demand and higher memory and system prices, alongside continuing component shortages and expected AI-chip price rises.

Nvidia is a US technology company that designs chips used to process large amounts of data. Its graphics chips were first widely used for computer games, but they are now central to data centres that train and run artificial intelligence systems.
Major technology firms and cloud-computing providers buy Nvidia’s chips to build and expand those data centres. The surge in sales reflects how much they are investing in AI, and has made Nvidia one of the most influential companies in the sector.
Nvidia’s results also matter to other businesses and consumers because its chips rely on complex global supply chains, and their prices can affect the cost of computing. The company’s growth sits alongside weaker demand in some areas of the PC market.
