Say goodbye to stealing any car you like with a single button in GTA 6, and hello to whatever the hell the WAINK scanner is
Grand Theft Auto 6 will make vehicle theft more complex, replacing the series’ usual one-button carjacking with security systems, specialised tools and player choices. Rockstar says the change should make vehicles feel more meaningful and add progression, while denser traffic and narrower streets are intended to make driving more demanding.
Players can use a phone app called WAINK to scan cars for information such as locks, alarms, trackers, resale value and registration costs. Some vehicles may require tools including a key cloner or Slim Jim, while hidden trackers can alert police; the article also notes a legal fund appeal by former Rockstar employees dismissed last year.
- GTA 6 adds layered vehicle security and theft tools.
- WAINK scans reveal cars’ risks, value and requirements.
