SanDisk has unveiled a 1TB microSD Express card aimed at Nintendo Switch 2 owners who need more game storage. Its launch matters because larger modern games are increasing pressure on the console’s built-in capacity, but the card’s high price is likely to limit its appeal.

The card was shown at Gamescom and is already available in selected markets, including the US, with a recommended price of $429, reduced to $359 in a current sale. Switch 2 includes 256GB of internal storage and supports microSD Express cards up to 2TB, while older non-Express Switch cards are incompatible; competing 1TB options from brands such as Lexar appear substantially cheaper in some regions.
