Garrett Hedlund says a sequel to Netflix’s 2019 action thriller *Triple Frontier* is still in development, with a first draft of the script completed. The update offers a sign of progress for a project that has been quiet since Charlie Hunnam said in 2023 that he had signed on as a producer.

It earned a 71% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and was initially expected to stand alone, though fans have long called for a sequel.

Triple Frontier is a 2019 action film about former US special forces operatives who reunite to steal money from a drug lord in South America. Its main cast includes Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam, Oscar Isaac, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal.

The film was released by Netflix and was initially expected to be a stand-alone story. A sequel has been discussed for several years, with Hunnam saying in 2023 that he had signed on as a producer; Hedlund’s update indicates that work on a script has continued.

The story follows the group’s plan and the risks that come with it, bringing together crime, military experience and questions about loyalty. A sequel would return to characters and a film that have attracted calls from some viewers for more.
