Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta Steam numbers haven’t budged in the second weekend, despite Warzone’s arrival and transformative patch
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta's second weekend has failed to attract more Steam players than the first, despite the addition of Warzone content and a major patch overhauling core gameplay systems. This matters because developer Infinity Ward made unusually significant changes based on player feedback, yet the numbers suggest the revised version hasn't generated fresh excitement, at least on the one platform where data is publicly visible.
The beta's peak concurrent Steam player count of 115,145, set in the first weekend, remains unbeaten, with the closest approach being just over 113,000 on Friday. Infinity Ward's patch removed Tactical Sprint by default (tying it to the Blood Rush Perk), nerfed slide distance and speed, reduced weapon damage to slow time-to-kill, adjusted spawn logic, and made killstreaks harder to earn. Eurogamer notes there's no visibility into PlayStation 5, Xbox or Switch 2 figures, so strong performance may exist elsewhere, but Steam is typically a reliable indicator of overall interest.

- Infinity Ward slowed movement, nerfed slides and cut weapon damage
- Spawns and killstreak requirements were also reworked after feedback
