CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will not arrive on PS5 as a separate release, but simply as a free update to the existing Complete Edition. This resolves confusion that followed the remaster's Gamescom announcement, and crucially means it will carry no new Trophy list, since there is no new edition being created for players to download and unlock afresh.

Community director Marcin Momot clarified on X that the remaster is essentially an update to the "current game client" rather than a standalone product, so existing save files will remain fully compatible with the upgraded version. Players who already own the Complete Edition, which launched natively on PS5 in 2022, will simply download the update, while those still on the PS4 version see no real change either, as that was already a free upgrade path to the Complete Edition. The lack of a fresh platinum is likely to disappoint dedicated trophy hunters, though many fans have welcomed avoiding a repeat of the grind, and some players note the expansions now appear to be bundled into the base game files at no extra cost.
