Firefox for iOS adds optional built-in ad blocker
Mozilla has launched a built-in ad blocker for Firefox on iOS, allowing users to block most third-party ads and trackers directly within the browser without needing a separate extension. The feature uses Apple's WebKit Content Blocker technology alongside the EasyList filter, and follows several weeks of testing. It brings Firefox in line with rival browsers such as Brave, Vivaldi and Opera, which already offer similar built-in ad-blocking tools on iOS.
The ad blocker is disabled by default and must be switched on via Settings > Browsing > Ad Blocker, though it can also be toggled on or off mid-session through the site menu. Mozilla notes the tool has limits: ads served directly by a website, those appearing in search results, and Firefox's own sponsored shortcuts and new-tab content will still be shown.
