Andrew Garfield has said he has not yet seen "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" or "The Odyssey", explaining that this is why he has not congratulated his fellow Spider-Man actor Tom Holland on their success. Speaking at the DGA in West Hollywood at the premiere of his own film "The Uprising", Garfield said he did not want to be "disingenuous" by praising work he had not watched, though he called Holland's character universally relatable. He also reiterated his denial that he will appear in "Avengers: Doomsday", despite previously having misled journalists about his surprise role in "Spider-Man: No Way Home".

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has taken an estimated $891 million at the North American box office and is tipped to become the first film to reach $1 billion domestically alone. Garfield, who played Spider-Man in two solo films before reprising the role in "No Way Home" alongside Holland and Tobey Maguire, said he would message Holland once he had watched both new releases. Separately, he discussed "The Uprising", directed by Paul Greengrass, in which he plays a fictional leader of a rebellion against King Richard II in 1831, noting he performed most of his own stunts despite the physical toll.
