Screen industry bodies, national governments and rights organisations adopted five thematic declarations at the Lumière Summit, held on Monday at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France. The declarations establish shared frameworks covering artificial intelligence, piracy, gender equality, image education and environmental sustainability, aiming to shape future legislation and cross-border industry cooperation. Signatories include France, the Republic of Korea, French rights bodies SACEM and Adami, and the Motion Picture Association, with all five declarations remaining open for further signature.

The AI declaration sets out six principles, including bringing AI systems that create or are trained on cultural works under the 2005 UNESCO Convention, requiring fair payment and IP compliance for training data, protecting creative employment, and improving transparency around datasets and AI-generated content. The piracy declaration commits signatories to a permanent multilateral enforcement body, greater intelligence-sharing and cross-border cooperation with online platforms, building on existing frameworks such as ACE, the MPA, the EUIPO Observatory and WIPO ALERT. A separate declaration on safer sets and gender equality commits to equal pay and opportunity, stronger harassment prevention and reporting, and greater representation of women, building on measures such as France's CNC funding conditions introduced in 2021.
