Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge has sparked fresh backlash after it emerged his fish and chips dish now costs around £60 at The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The dish, served with Caviar Tartare Sauce and Minted Pea Purée, comes with just 17 chips, prompting accusations online that the chef has "lost the plot" over the pricing of what is typically a cheap, everyday meal.

The main is included on the pub's Saturday and Sunday lunch menus, which cost £95 for two courses, with the fish and chips price calculated by doubling the cost of a starter. That works out at nearly six times the UK's average chippy price of £10.29. It follows previous controversy over Kerridge's cooking, including a £35-£37 fish and chips dish sold at Harrods until it closed last August, and a £27.50 burger at his restaurant The Coach that drew criticism in June. The chef, who owns six pubs and restaurants and holds three Michelin stars, has defended his pricing by comparing it to buying a Ferrari, arguing quality justifies the cost.
