An inquest heard that Lolita Visa, a 32-year-old Digital Media Librarian at Channel 4, was found dead in the sea at Llandudno, north Wales, after travelling more than 110 miles from her home in Halifax, West Yorkshire. She had been reported missing by concerned family members and had visited her father in Manchester before continuing on to Liverpool and Llandudno, sharing photographs of her journey with him along the way.

Ms Visa was last heard from on 22 August, prompting West Yorkshire Police to launch a missing persons inquiry, with North Wales Police alerted on 25 August. Her body was recovered from the water on 26 August after a member of the public alerted HM Coastguard, and a post-mortem found injuries consistent with time spent submerged. Coroner John Gittins adjourned the inquest to a later date. Her family, who described her as "bubbly" and "a joy to be around," have launched a fundraiser to bring her body home to Latvia for burial.
