Nick and Amanda Pearce have described their devastation after losing their only surviving son, Edward, in a car crash this summer, 14 years after his older brother William died of leukaemia. Edward, known as Bunty, was killed after a van struck him as he changed a tyre on the way to work; he was 20. The tragedy is particularly cruel for the family as Edward had donated bone marrow to try to save William when he himself was just four years old.

Following the crash, Edward died days later but was able to save seven lives by donating six organs, having registered as a donor as soon as he was able to and again upon getting his driving licence. He was training as a plumber and had planned to move to Australia with a friend. His funeral last month drew hundreds of mourners, with his parents saying it took ninety minutes just to reach the wake venue. The couple are now raising money for the Children With Cancer Fund in his memory.
