Mike Epps, one of Netflix's most popular stand-up comedians and star of its sitcom *The Upshaws*, is set to star in and executive produce a new comedy series for the streamer called *My Father's Son*. The show, inspired by the life of Detroit stand-up Chris "Comedian CP" Powell, tells a father-son story, though plot details remain under wraps; this deepens Epps's decade-long relationship with Netflix, for which his specials have amassed over 20 million views since 2023.

The project has had a winding path, having previously been developed as a live-action series for HBO Max, then as an animated series at Netflix, before settling on its current live-action format at Netflix. Epps produces alongside Niles Kirchner, Bob Teitel and Maurice Williams, who also serves as writer-showrunner, with additional executive producers including Doug Banker, Trevor Engelson and Comedian CP himself. The news comes as Epps tours with his We Them Ones stand-up show, following his Netflix special *Delusional*, which became his best-performing launch on the platform with nearly four million views in its first week.
