Google is updating Search's AI Mode to act as a fantasy football assistant, letting users link their Yahoo Fantasy or Sleeper accounts so the AI can offer personalised advice on lineups, starters and free-agent pickups. The move is part of a broader push to add sports-tracking features to Search ahead of the new football season, though it may divide opinion between fans who welcome the convenience and those who feel it removes some of the enjoyment of managing a team themselves.

Alongside the fantasy football tool, Google is rolling out a "Live Game Feed" that shows live scores, recaps, play-by-play updates and video highlights for ongoing matches, plus carousels displaying scores and player stats when searching for teams or players, as well as win probabilities and bracket information. The fantasy football and Live Game Feed features are currently available in English in the US, while the score carousel and player stats will roll out globally on mobile.
