Wendy's has revived the "T-Rex burger," a nine-patty monster sandwich that first appeared as a joke in Sports Illustrated in the mid-2000s before briefly becoming real at a Canadian franchise, only for corporate to shut it down. It has now resurfaced as an official eating challenge at an Oklahoma outlet, with diners invited to finish the burger and its trimmings within nine minutes in exchange for a T-shirt and a mystery prize, and the promotion reportedly set to roll out across other Oklahoma restaurants.

The burger costs $29.99 and contains around 3,000 calories, according to a sign photographed at the Edmond, Oklahoma location and shared on Reddit. Reaction online has been split, with some users mocking the health risks and joking it would leave Wendy's founder Dave Thomas "rolling over in his grave," while others said it looked like a "decent deal" and vowed to take on the challenge. A dietitian cautioned that the meal's high sodium, saturated fat and calorie content could cause discomfort, especially if eaten quickly, and suggested sharing it and pairing it with water and vegetables. The item can also reportedly still be recreated off-menu by ordering a Dave's Triple with six extra patties, though without any prize attached.
