Apple's fifth-generation AirPods, which bring active noise cancellation to the standard model for the first time, are now available for preorder ahead of their official launch on 18 September. The launch coincides with the debut of the Apple Watch Series 12, Watch Ultra 4 and iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max, marking a busy release day for the company. The move makes ANC more accessible, as it was previously reserved for the pricier AirPods 4 with ANC.

Two versions are on offer, echoing the previous generation's line-up. The standard model costs $129 and adds noise cancellation, undercutting the old $179 ANC option, while a $149 model adds a wireless charging case, longer battery life and stem-based touch controls for volume adjustment. Both are available to preorder from Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Apple directly, with a full review from the publication still pending.
