James Wade claimed his first European Tour darts title in a decade, beating fellow Englishman Ross Smith 8-4 in the final of the Flanders Darts Trophy in Antwerp. The win ended a wait stretching back to his 2016 European Darts Matchplay victory in Hamburg and comes despite the absence of world number one and two Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, who did not compete in the event.

The 43-year-old, a four-time World Championship semi-finalist, beat Danny Noppert 6-0 in the quarter-finals and Damon Heta 7-4 in the semi-finals to reach the final, where he averaged 95.50 and hit five 180s. He built an early lead after Smith missed a shot at 64 to fall 3-2 behind, extended his advantage to 6-3, and sealed victory with a 16 checkout, earning £35,000 in prize money. Top seed Gian van Veen had earlier been eliminated 7-6 by Smith in the semi-finals.
