The former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died at the age of 64, the clubs have announced. Miklosko, who represented both Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic internationally, had been living with cancer and revealed in 2024 that he was withdrawing from treatment. West Ham paid tribute to him as a "beloved, inspirational goalkeeper and gentle giant of a man" who would "forever hold a special place in the hearts of the West Ham family".

Miklosko joined West Ham from Baník Ostrava in 1990 for £300,000 and helped the club win promotion to the top flight in his first season, going on to make 373 appearances before leaving for QPR in 1998. He retired in 2001 and returned to West Ham as a goalkeeping coach until 2010, later working for a sports agency and then back at Baník Ostrava as a board member and sporting director. He won 40 caps for Czechoslovakia and two for the Czech Republic across an international career that began in 1982. His son, Martin, said the family took comfort from the support shown and that his father "simply loved West Ham United", especially hearing his name sung by fans.
