Bose refreshes its Ultra Open Earbuds and adds a new sport model to the lineup
Bose has unveiled two new open-ear earbud models launching on 1 October: the second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds and a new Sport model designed for fitness use. The Ultra Open Earbuds represent an updated flagship product with improvements to sound quality, battery life and design, whilst the Sport model targets active users requiring durability and physical controls. This expansion demonstrates Bose's commitment to serving different segments within the growing open-ear market.
The Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) cost $299 and deliver up to nine hours of battery life—an improvement from 7.5 hours in the previous generation—plus approximately 20 additional hours from the wireless charging case. Key features include Cinema Mode spatial audio, multipoint Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, three-band EQ and a redesigned case with wireless charging, though noise cancellation is not available due to the open design. The Sport Open Earbuds are priced at $199 and offer up to seven hours of battery with 22 hours in their case; they feature IP54 dust and water resistance, lightweight silicone construction and physical controls optimised for active use.
