Riley Green says he has no interest in reshaping his music to resemble Morgan Wallen’s, despite frequently receiving songs written in Wallen’s style. Green believes his own sound and songwriting approach are more authentic to him, and says he is comfortable developing his identity rather than following the genre’s biggest current trend.

Green rarely receives outside song pitches because he writes much of his own material, although he is open to hearing them. His duet with Ella Langley, “You Look Like You Love Me”, topped the US Country Airplay chart and reached the Billboard Hot 100’s top 30; he also has more than 16 million monthly Spotify listeners and 3.2 million Instagram followers. His latest album, That’s Just Me, was released shortly before the interview, as he also began appearing as a coach on The Voice.
