Dark Souls 2 seamless co-op mod is out now in alpha form, paving the way for more boss battering with mates

Rock Paper Shotgun · 2 hours ago

A seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 2 has launched in alpha, allowing players to complete the game together with friends without the usual multiplayer restrictions. Created by modder Yui after more than a year of development, it matters because it could make the entire campaign playable cooperatively, from the tutorial through to the final boss.

The mod supports up to five friends, synchronises progression and NPC dialogue, and removes barriers between co-op areas. Fallen players return to their last bonfire while others continue fighting, and users can adjust difficulty scaling; however, Yui acknowledges that multiplayer makes the game easier. It is compatible with Scholar of the First Sin version 1.03 and is available through Nexus Mods and GitHub, though its alpha status means bugs are likely.

  • Dark Souls 2 now has unrestricted co-op for up to six players.
  • Campaign progress and NPC dialogue remain synchronised.
  • The alpha release may contain bugs and requires Scholar of the First Sin.
