Donald Trump’s Board of Peace has announced a $2.45bn Gaza recovery plan covering 66 programmes over six months. The money would support housing, diesel power generation, waste removal and other urgent needs, but reconstruction faces major funding, security and governance challenges.

The board says $18bn has been pledged, although only $280m has been received, while total recovery costs could reach $71.4bn over ten years. The plan comes amid an imperfect ceasefire and continuing casualties, with Gaza’s health ministry reporting at least 1,381 Palestinians killed since it began; disagreements also remain over Hamas’s disarmament, Israeli military presence and Gaza’s future administration.
