Award-winning teacher convicted of sexually abusing 12 boys in Paisley
Award-winning teacher Martin Gallacher has been convicted of grooming and sexually assaulting 12 boys at a school in Paisley, Renfrewshire, between 2013 and 2024. He exploited his positions as a teacher, club organiser and football coach, prompting the sheriff to describe his conduct as manipulative and predatory.
Gallacher, 46, denied sexual wrongdoing and said any physical contact was innocent, but was convicted of 14 of 15 charges after the jury deliberated for about an hour. The abuse allegedly involved inappropriate touching, sexual acts, private meetings, online contact and gifts or money; sentencing and possible sexual harm prevention and non-harassment orders will be considered next month, while he remains in custody.
