After eighteen years of jaggedy bowling, a new mod bestows GTA 4 with DLSS and FSR support
A new mod called DLSS IV adds Nvidia’s DLSS and DLAA, plus AMD’s FSR, to Grand Theft Auto IV. It offers a relatively lightweight way to reduce the game’s notorious jagged and shimmering edges, giving the 2008 title a more modern visual presentation without requiring a comprehensive remaster.
The mod supports HDR and FSR 3 should work with graphics cards from any manufacturer, while DLSS requires a compatible Nvidia RTX card. DLAA improves anti-aliasing without increasing performance, whereas DLSS and FSR can also reduce rendering demands; the release follows earlier, more ambitious GTA IV projects involving texture upgrades and path tracing. Rockstar reportedly considered a full remaster in 2022 but allegedly abandoned it after the poor reception to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
- DLSS IV modernises GTA IV’s jagged visuals.
