U2 have announced their 16th studio album, ‘Carnaval De Luz’, due on 13 November, alongside the release of energetic new single ‘Silencio’. It will be their first album of new material in nine years and arrives during the band’s 50th anniversary year, exploring spirituality, friendship, freedom and endurance.

Produced by Jacknife Lee, the 12-track album includes collaborations with Dolly Parton, Brian Eno, Martin Garrix, Daniel Lanois and Ryan Tedder. It follows the surprise EPs ‘Days Of Ash’ and ‘Easter Lily’, while previous album ‘Songs Of Experience’ was released in 2017; ‘Carnaval De Luz’ also features what is described as Parton’s final recorded vocal performance, on ‘Torn’.
