Developing story first seen 2 hours ago
Apple is reportedly preparing updated versions of the HomePod mini, iPad mini and Apple TV 4K for release before the end of the year. Leaked images and details found in Apple’s own code suggest the HomePod mini 2 will retain its existing design but introduce more muted colours, while the iPad mini 8 will receive a faster chip and design changes.
The iPad mini 8 is expected to use Apple’s A20 Pro processor, move its front camera to the landscape edge and possibly add an OLED display and improved waterproofing. The next Apple TV appears largely unchanged externally, but could gain an A17 Pro chip and Apple’s N1 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip; the leaks remain limited and the report is still developing.
- Apple may launch three updated devices before year-end.
- iPad mini 8 could receive major performance and display upgrades.
- HomePod mini and Apple TV changes appear more modest.

Apple manufactures consumer electronics including HomePod mini, a voice-controlled speaker; iPad mini, a portable tablet; and Apple TV, a streaming device for televisions. These are established product lines that have been available for several years. Beyond these, the company also makes iPhones, Mac computers, and other devices that work together as an ecosystem.
Most technology manufacturers periodically update their products with new processors, improved cameras, or refreshed designs. These updates occur on varying schedules depending on the product and market demand. When Apple updates its hardware, the changes typically aim to improve performance, extend battery life, or add new features.
The technology industry and consumers closely follow Apple's product decisions because the company is one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers. Updates to Apple's products often reflect broader industry trends in what consumers may want or need. This visibility means Apple's product choices influence not just its own customers but also how competitors develop their own hardware.
