The 2017 science-fiction film Life, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds, is coming to free streaming service Tubi in October. Directed by Daniel Espinosa, the film was initially rumoured to be connected to Sony's Spider-Man spin-off Venom, but it stands as its own Alien-inspired thriller that has become something of a cult favourite among audiences.

The film was produced with a reported budget of $58 million and grossed $100 million at the global box office. It currently holds a 67 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising its thrilling premise and strong performances, though noting it doesn't break significant new ground in the trapped-in-space genre. Interestingly, before Sony acquired the project, it had been set up at Paramount, the studio behind the Cloverfield franchise.
