The Voyager, an Airbus A330 tanker aircraft, is critical for providing air-to-air refuelling to Typhoon fighter jets that defend the islands. The aircraft is now based in Cyprus and has been redeployed to help refuel Saudi Arabian fighter jets in their conflict with Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen; Defence Minister Luke Pollard stated the deployment would be time-limited to "weeks, rather than days". However, the Ministry of Defence maintained that the UK's commitment to defending the Falklands remains unwavering and that sufficient air defence capabilities remain in place.
