Iranian opposition channel Manoto has released a documentary titled This Is Our Story, which compiles footage of a major security force crackdown on protesters in Iran that occurred between 28 December and 9 January. Medical personnel on the ground estimated that over 30,000 people were killed during this period, with the Iranian regime shutting down internet access to prevent international coverage. The documentary, compiled from over 10,000 videos smuggled out of the country by ordinary Iranians, is being published on YouTube as a permanent public record of events that received limited international attention.

The four-part documentary includes footage of Esmail Shokri, whose 26-year-old son Sepehr was killed in the crackdown, searching through hundreds of bodies at a forensics centre near Tehran. Nine months after the events, the international response has remained limited despite subsequent military action by the US and Israel in February, leaving the suffering of Iranians largely unacknowledged outside the country. Manoto's documentary effort represents an attempt to provide documentation of what was widely suppressed at the time.
