Samsung has announced the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a smaller Bluetooth tracker with longer battery life and new tracking features. Its support for iPhones is designed to let users share tracking information with friends and family, while Samsung continues to use its own Galaxy Find Network.

The tracker is 35 per cent smaller and 33 per cent lighter than its predecessor, and its replaceable battery is rated for up to 550 days of normal use or 790 days in power-saving mode. It has an IP67 rating, but lacks a key-ring cutout, so attaching it to keys requires a separate case. New features include area alerts, movement detection and location history; supported phones can use UWB and Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding for more precise finding within 200 feet. It goes on sale in South Korea on 7 October, with a US launch in early November at $29.99 for one or $99.99 for four; support for other Android phones has not been confirmed.
