"Walk This Way" is a 1986 song by rock band Aerosmith that became famous after a collaboration with hip-hop pioneers Run-DMC, marking one of the earliest major connections between rock and hip-hop music. Tom Morello, guitarist of Rage Against the Machine, hosts an annual Power to the People festival in Columbia, Maryland bringing together musicians from different musical genres.
The festival recently presented a one-time performance of "Walk This Way" featuring a large group of acclaimed rock and hip-hop musicians from different generations, including Jack Black, DMC (from the original Run-DMC), Chuck D of Public Enemy, Scott Ian of Anthrax, members of Cypress Hill and Morello himself. Collaborations between major rock and hip-hop artists from different eras remain relatively uncommon, making this gathering noteworthy for fans interested in both types of music.
The same festival also featured a project called Jack Sabbath, with Jack Black performing alongside Tom Morello's son Roman and Scott Ian's son Revel. The performance included a special guest appearance by Geezer Butler, the original bassist of Black Sabbath, performing "War Pigs".
