Edinburgh tops Glasgow as Britain’s friendliest city in readers’ poll
Edinburgh has overtaken Glasgow to be named the UK’s friendliest city in Condé Nast Traveller’s annual readers’ poll. The result reverses Glasgow’s two-year run at the top and may add a fresh chapter to the cities’ long-standing rivalry.
Edinburgh rose from third place last year and was also ranked sixth friendliest in Europe. Glasgow fell to fourth, while Aberdeen climbed to eighth for the second year running. The magazine praised Edinburgh residents’ good humour, open-mindedness and hospitality; it also named Porto and Lisbon Europe’s two friendliest cities.
