Baywatch was an iconic American television series from the 1990s that became a worldwide phenomenon, known for following lifeguards working on a busy California beach. The original show captured audiences globally and remains instantly recognisable today, even decades after it concluded. A new reboot of the series is now being produced for contemporary audiences.
The revival will first air on the American broadcaster Fox in January 2027, starring Stephen Amell as the lead character with appearances from original cast members. Multiple television networks and streaming services worldwide have purchased broadcasting rights to the new series in their regions, including Prime Video, Sky, Australia's Stan, and Italy's Rai. This international uptake reflects strong global interest in the revived franchise.
