Alternative cause of death can’t be ‘ruled out’ for Luke Davies – after he was allegedly shot above the eye by Beau Lamarre-Condon, court hears
A forensic pathologist told the NSW Supreme Court that Luke Davies’ cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, but she could not rule out a severe neck injury also contributing. Her evidence came during the trial of former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, who denies murdering Davies and Jesse Baird in February 2024.
Dr Kendall Bailey said the shot above Davies’ left eye would have immediately incapacitated him and that he died shortly afterwards, though perhaps not instantly. She said a neck injury may have constricted his jaw and caused him to choke on blood; two thigh stab wounds were likely inflicted after death. Baird suffered a shoulder-to-chin gunshot wound described as survivable with medical care, as well as a head wound that incapacitated him.
- Pathologist could not rule out a neck injury contributing to Davies’ death.
- Davies was shot in the head and likely died soon afterwards.
- Lamarre-Condon denies murdering Davies and Baird.

Luke Davies and Jesse Baird were partners who disappeared in Sydney in February 2024. Their deaths led to a murder trial involving Beau Lamarre-Condon, a former police officer who had previously been in a relationship with Baird.
The case is being heard in the NSW Supreme Court, where evidence is examined to help establish what happened and whether the charges are proved. Forensic pathologists study injuries and other medical evidence to assess how a person died and when injuries may have occurred.
The pathologist’s evidence concerns the injuries found on Davies and Baird, including which may have caused or contributed to their deaths. Lamarre-Condon denies murdering them, and the court will consider the evidence as part of the trial.
