Look North sofa to be pushed 80 miles for Children in Need
Amy Garcia and Lindsey Burrow plan to push the BBC Look North red sofa 80 miles across Yorkshire for Children in Need, raising funds and highlighting projects that support local children and young people. The five-day challenge will be broadcast live along the route, with visits to towns, villages and charity-funded projects.
Starting in Ripon on 9 November and finishing in Wakefield on 13 November, they expect to cover 12 to 20 miles each day and tackle the Holme Moss climb. Burrow, whose husband Rob died in 2024 after living with motor neurone disease, called it one of her toughest challenges; the pair raised tens of thousands of pounds with a three-legged walk last year. The sofa was also used in a 2018 Sport Relief challenge that raised almost £200,000.

Children in Need is the BBC’s annual appeal, which raises money for charities and projects supporting children and young people across the UK. The funds help local groups provide services such as activities, advice and support for families.
Look North is the BBC’s regional news programme for Yorkshire, and its red sofa is a familiar part of the show. Amy Garcia presents the programme, while Lindsey Burrow has taken part in fundraising challenges since her husband, rugby league player Rob Burrow, died in 2024 after living with motor neurone disease.
The challenge links the programme’s regional audience with projects that receive Children in Need funding. It also follows an earlier sofa-based Sport Relief fundraiser, showing how the prop has been used in BBC charity appeals.
