Steam’s Best Way To Play New Games Officially Comes Back in 4 Days

Polygon ·

Steam Next Fest’s October edition runs from 19 to 26 October, giving players free demos of upcoming PC games on Steam. The event offers a way to discover new releases before they launch, and is the third Next Fest this year after editions in February and June.

Confirmed demos include Emberville, Drunken Goddess Reflux and We Are So Cooked; demos for Ace & Aro: Heart-to-Heart and Fallgrade are already available. Drunken Goddess Reflux has attracted more than 500,000 wishlists, while earlier Next Fest editions helped bring several anticipated indie games to players’ attention.

Steam is a digital shop and platform for PC games, where players can buy, download and update titles. Many smaller studios use it to release games alongside larger publishers.

Steam Next Fest is a recurring event that lets players try free demos of games still in development. Developers can use the demos to introduce their projects and gauge interest before release.

The event features games at different stages of development, so a demo may not show what the finished game will be like. Wishlists let Steam users save games they may want to follow or buy later, and can indicate interest in an upcoming title.
