Arsenal’s injured Caldentey out for up to 10 weeks

BBC Sport ·

Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks after suffering a significant hamstring injury during the team’s 4-2 defeat by Manchester City on 4 October. Her absence is a setback for Arsenal as they try to recover from a poor start to their Women’s Super League campaign.

Caldentey, a Spain international who joined from Barcelona two years ago, was named WSL Player of the Year for 2024-25. Manager Renee Slegers said scans showed the injury was healing well, though the club hopes she can return sooner; Arsenal have won one of their first five league matches and also expect to be without Chloe Kelly and Selina Cerci, who has had knee surgery.

  • Caldentey faces up to 10 weeks out with a hamstring injury.
