Marvel Writer Officially Addresses Yelena Belova’s Ace Identity Amid Venom Romance
Marvel writer Charles Soule says Yelena Belova’s relationship with Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote will explore unfamiliar territory for all three characters. His comments address questions about how the romance fits with Yelena’s generally understood asexual identity, while leaving the story’s specifics open.
Soule described asexuality as a spectrum and said choices the characters have made before may not apply in this new situation. He stressed that Yelena is involved with the symbiote as well as Eddie; the series also follows them protecting Alphabet City, in an area they call “Venom Town”. *Venom* #1 was released on 14 October.
