Meta pauses Muse sharing after researchers find AI chats on the web

The developing report says researchers used public DNS records to uncover Muse sharing links, prompting Meta to pause the feature while it reviews how the links can be found. The discovery matters because conversations people shared by link included potentially sensitive business and personal information.

Claroc said it found more than 6,800 links and viewed hundreds of chats. Muse URLs combined a phrase describing each conversation with a random ID, which researchers said allowed them to rebuild links from DNS records; examples included a revenue review, a loan application, a staff calendar and job interview notes. Similar exposure of shared AI conversations has affected ChatGPT, Claude and Grok.
