Bill Clinton looks frail during very rare public appearance as Democrats pull out big guns in Florida ahead of final election sprint
Former President Bill Clinton campaigned publicly for Florida gubernatorial candidate David Jolly at an interfaith event in Pembroke Park, two weeks before Election Day. The appearance comes as Jolly has narrowed the polling gap with Republican Byron Donalds, drawing prominent Democrats into a race that could end the state’s long run of Republican governors.
Clinton, 80, joked about his age at the start of his speech. Jolly, a former Republican, is trying to attract moderate and undecided voters, including disaffected Republicans, while highlighting high prices, home-insurance costs and concerns about data centres. Donalds has a significant fundraising advantage, and Florida has not elected a Democratic governor since 1994; Hillary Clinton is also expected to campaign for Jolly.
