IAMDDB hits back at Israeli government “stealing her identity” by using AI-generated version of her likeness

NME ·

IAMDDB has accused the Israeli government of using an AI-generated likeness of her in a political video without her permission. The video, which has since been deleted, appeared on official Israeli social media and showed a woman reciting lyrics about Jewish identity and colonisation; the incident has raised concerns about using AI to imply an artist’s support for a message.

The rapper said she did not create, approve or consent to the video, and stated that she opposes the killing and suffering of civilians, with particular sympathy for Palestinians. She also addressed having performed in Israel when she was younger, saying she would have made a different choice with her current understanding and that the performance should not be read as political endorsement. IAMDDB’s latest album, *LOVE Is WAR, Volume 6*, was released in February 2024.

  • IAMDDB says an Israeli government video used her AI likeness without consent.
  • The video was deleted after appearing on official social media.
  • She says her past performance in Israel was not an endorsement.
