Police investigate Married at First Sight Australia after ‘inappropriate’ allegations

BBC World ·

New South Wales Police have investigated a report that “inappropriate content” was shared in connection with Married at First Sight Australia. The case is to be referred to Western Australia Police, and it adds to scrutiny of the programme’s production and participant safeguards.

According to industry reports, a male cast member complained that producers shared private information about him with his on-screen bride; police and the production company have not confirmed that account. The investigation follows a BBC report in June based on nine former cast members’ concerns about background checks, after which Australia’s media watchdog issued a warning. The Australian and UK versions have separate production companies.
