Apple adds App Store badge for apps tailored to foldable iPhone screens
Apple is introducing a “Made for iPhone Duo” App Store badge to identify apps designed for the foldable phone’s inner and outer screens. The label is intended to help users find apps that make use of the device’s larger display and folding form.
Examples include Netflix adapting viewing to each screen, Prime Video showing cast details while a phone is partly folded, and Microsoft Word placing formatting tools beside a document. Outlook and Zoom are also set to use the expanded display; Apple named Paramount Plus, NYT Cooking, Yelp, Lyft and United Airlines among other optimised apps. Some apps may still have bugs, and the $1,999 phone launches on Friday with limited walk-in availability.
In short
- Apple will mark apps optimised for the iPhone Duo.
- Apps use the foldable’s screens in different ways.
- The $1,999 phone launches Friday in limited quantities.
