Galaxy Z8 sales rise 45% in Europe as foldable interest grows
Samsung says combined European sales of its Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra are 45 per cent higher than sales of the Fold 7, as interest in foldable phones rises after Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo. Samsung does not name Apple as a cause, but the timing of a sharp jump in searches for its new phones points to a possible connection.
Search volume for the Z8 series across Europe rose 460 per cent in the week the iPhone Duo was announced, while searches for the Fold 8 were up 260 per cent across September. Samsung previously said US pre-orders for the Z8 range were trending 30 per cent above last year, but has not provided updated US figures. The Fold 8 costs about $1,900, compared with $2,000 for Apple’s foldable, and its wider screen may make video, document reading and apps more comfortable.
In short
- Samsung reports a 45 per cent rise in European sales of its large foldables.
- Z8 search volume jumped 460 per cent during the iPhone Duo announcement week.
