Paige Crisp jailed for 30 months over 460kg cannabis smuggling operation
Paige Crisp, 24, has been jailed for 30 months for her part in a cannabis smuggling operation involving 11 Britons. The case drew attention because Crisp is married to Ayub Qassim, who was the last person known to have seen Jay Slater alive before he disappeared in Tenerife in 2024.
Border Force officers arrested the group at Birmingham Airport on 9 August 2024, after they travelled from Thailand via Paris with 460kg of cannabis in 22 suitcases. The drugs had a reported street value of £13.8 million; the suitcases contained vacuum-packed cannabis and Apple AirTags linked to one account. Crisp, a cleaner from Worcestershire and mother of a four-year-old, was convicted of offences including attempting to import and conceal Class B drugs. Qassim was previously jailed for leading a heroin and crack cocaine operation in Wales.
